The SG guitar is a solid-body electric guitar designed and manufactured by the Gibson company. It was first introduced in 1961 and has since become one of the most iconic guitars in rock music history. The SG stands for "solid guitar," as it features a thinner body than its predecessor, the Les Paul. The design of the SG includes two cutaways, allowing for greater access to the higher frets of the neck. It has a mahogany body with a glued-in mahogany neck and usually features two double-coil humbucker pickups, providing a classic rock sound. The SG has been used by numerous famous guitarists over the years, including Angus Young of AC/DC, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band.
